YHA Women's Hockey League
YHA Women's Hockey League

This is a reminder to all women's clubs that the tables as shown on the website are not a finished reflection of the situation until the Committee meets on 17 April in order to confirm all the results.

A notice of congratulations confirming promotion and relegation as soon as possible thereafter will then be posted.

May I also remind all clubs to confirm their intention to play next season by 15 April 2008 as required by the League Rules by emailing smithbje©aol.com. This is especially important for multi-team clubs with teams in Div 5 and 6a or 6b. Thanks to those clubs who have already emailed.

Secretary - YHA Women's Hockey League

Postponed Matches
The Men’s League Committee would like to bring to the attention of all Clubs in the Men’s League of Rule 21, regarding postponements.

Just before Christmas quite a few games were lost to the weather, and the website does not show any details of re-arrangement.

The Committee requests that these games are re-organised by 1st February. Failure to do so will result in the game being awarded 0-0, and the home side fined £15.

Postponed Matches
Saturday 15 December 2007

All clubs are reminded that under League Rules details of any postponement, including reason, must either be texted to 07936 515230 (by home team only for matches in Men's and Women's Premier Division, Division 1 and 2) by 7.00pm on match day, or input to the YHA Website by 7.00pm on Sunday (by home team only for matches in Men's and Women's Division 3 downwards).

Failure to either notify postponements by text (Prem, Div 1 and 2) or enter direct to the YHA Website (Div 3 and downwards) may result in a £15 penalty.

Club Fixture Secretaries are also reminded that when rearranging fixtures your opposition Fixture Sec MUST be consulted first and MUST agree to the date and time of the rearrangement BEFORE match details are updated on the YHA Website.

PITCH AND TRAVEL NEWS

BEN RHYDDING HC Please note that there are to be roadworks carried out on the A65 at the Manor House Bends area, (between Burley in Wharfedale & Ben Rhydding), over the next few weekends. As this will cause delays to any of your teams travelling to Ben Rhydding HC you should allow extra travelling time or use an alternative route other than the A65 after Burley.

PROBLEMS WITH USING GOOGLE MAPS
A problem has been identified when using the link Google Maps from the YHA Website VENUES section. When a venue is selected, say, Park Lane High School and (CLICK HERE TO VIEW MAP) is clicked the map shows the correct location of the school.

If you then use the TO HERE or FROM HERE option to get directions from another point, the map produced does not use the HX3 9LG post code but defaults to HX3 which is a couple of miles away at Shibden Hall Road near Stump Cross! Obviously no good for hockey directions. We have tried this with about a dozen pitches and some work properly others don't.

BE WARNED: IF YOU ARE USING GOOGLE MAPS TO GET TRAVEL DATA FOR HOCKEY MATCHES YOU NEED TO DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU ARE BEING SENT TO THE RIGHT PLACE. HOME TEAMS PLEASE ENSURE THAT OPPONENTS HAVE AN ACCURATE SET OF DIRECTIONS TO FOLLOW

We are looking into the possibility of using a different online mapping system.

Change to Starring Rules
With immediate effect we have agreed to change the starring rules in Yorkshire to exclude goalkeepers

If your 2nd team plays in division 2 or higher (this is not apllicable if your 2nd team plays in the North) , you are now required under note 2 of the rules to nominate 10 starred players who should not include a goalkeeper , as against 11 including a goalkeeper.. Please pass on to the relevant people within your club if you are affected by this rule.

Conatacting Neutral Scheme Umpires
Yorkshire League Neutral Scheme Umpires

Some clubs seem to be having a problem confirming match venue and fixture time with appointed umpires. Last week one club failed to confirm with the umpire and at the moment another club have not confirmed this week's game.

Rule 25 states: "Neutral umpires must be contacted by telephone by 20.00 hours on the TUESDAY prior to the game to confirm arrangements". After this week we shall work to this rule and if they are not contacted the umpires will be moved to another game.
