Bernard French

Bernard French
It is with sadness that we have to report the death of Bernard French, a lifelong member of Halifax HC and for many years involved with YHUA and NHUA.  Bernard was 83.
He was a regular in the YHUA neutral scheme for many years, served as a YHUA committee member and as treasurer from 1986 - 1996, and was the driving force behind the amalgamation of the men's and women's umpiring associations and was the inaugural president of the North HUA.
After stepping down from regular umpiring, he maintained his involvement by watching and coaching umpires and will be remembered by many as the friendly face on the touchline at Halifax, braving the weather to offer support and encouragement to visiting officials, a true gentleman of the game.

The funeral will be held at Park Wood Crematorium, Park Road, Elland, HX5 9HZ on Wednesday 20 June at 10.30.
