Based on insight surrounding the Adult and Junior programmes, a number of important changes will be implemented to our programme for the 2017-18 season.
The England Hockey Championships have been designed to be more inclusive, allowing more of your clubs and respective teams to participate in a national championship, with more evenly contended games.
This has been implemented with the introduction of a new tiered structure aimed at widening participation to all teams within your club and not just the 1st & 2nd XIs.
Though no changes, the Masters Championships and Mixed Championships will now sit under the new and exciting England Hockey Championships re-brand – so head over and take a look for yourself!
.
Under the new JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS, a new tiered structure will provide greater competitive hockey opportunities for more junior players in clubs. The introduction of these tiers will also help a level playing field in games.
.
Junior Club Championships
The Junior Championships is all about giving the opportunity for youngsters to play more hockey!
U14 - local leagues, with the potential for top teams to qualify for area and national finals
U16 - local leagues, with the potential for top teams to qualify for area and national finals
U18 - knockout
Changes for 2017/18
We've added a second tier to the U14 and U16 Club Championships; this was after feedback from clubs wanting more opportunities of competition for their youngsters. The second tier has greater flexibility in terms of player eligibility regulations. This gives smaller clubs the chance to play more local hockey on a level playing field, aiding the development of their players and teams.
We've retained the U14 Development Championships, a 7-side competition for developing clubs.
The U18 competition remains unchanged although the Plate competition is rebranded as Tier 2.

Entry to the Junior Championships opens on Monday 31 July
