Chris Parke Appeal Auction
Rotherham Hockey Club are pleased to announce that an auction of items kindly donated by many individuals and clubs across the country in support of the Chris Parke Appeal will begin on the 9th September, 2019 starting at 07:00 until 21:00 hrs daily up to and including the 24th October, 2019. All monies raised from the auction and the JustGiving site will go towards supporting Chris and his family by providing additional aids as and when required. The JustGiving page and auction site links are as follows:
Rotherham Hockey Club (RHC) would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals and clubs who have supported our appeal to help Chris and his family as he adapts and changes lifestyle following his tragic accident. Subject to his care package being in place, Chris, it is hoped, will have returned home on Friday 30th August, 2019, following a number of surgical procedures and long-term rehabilitation. There are a number of home adaptations that have been undertaken with only minor works remaining. Chris will eventually have the use of a Golden Retriever “helper dog” that has an anticipated arrival around early October. Chris also intends to attend University this year and his brother has recently escorted him to a meeting with his tutors and his tour of University facilities.

Mention must also be made of the fact that many non-hockey individuals have also contributed to this appeal.
RHC and the Parke family cannot express fully their personal thanks to all, but a few individuals in particular deserve mention here for their invaluable assistance in providing support and items for our forthcoming auction:
Barry Middleton; ex Captain of England/GB (the most capped player in the history of England /GB Hockey) has been instrumental in providing items for this most worthy cause. He has ensured many of the England /GB squad have contributed to the “justgiving” page whilst donating a number of personal items for the auction, along with a signed GB shirt. George Pinner must also be thanked for his kind donation of a set of signed goalkeeping pads and kickers, along with Andy Halliday (GB Team Manager) and the rest of the GB squad. Jon Bray, Past Yorkshire Hockey Association President, Vice President and past member of RHC, has also been instrumental in obtaining many signed national league club shirts for our auction. It would be remiss of RHC and myself if I were not to mention the gracious help and encouragement to Chris that Gavin Featherstone has supplied. Gavin set the ball rolling with a kind donation from his latest book launch. RHC would like to offer our thanks to these and the many other supporters for their invaluable help in assisting our fundraising efforts.
I would also like to offer my personal thanks to England Hockey and the Yorkshire Hockey Association in helping to publicise our fundraising efforts along with allowing us to use their platforms as a way of thanking all involved.
