Create divisions

Before adding any fixtures, divisions need to be created for the league.

Divisions have a number of options, but only a few are needed at this point – you can come back later and update the other fields as needed.

Adding new divisions

First, you need to select the league – see League Manager – Managing a league.

League Manager – Divisions page (e107)
  1. Select the Divisions sub-menu option (on the right hand side)
  2. Fill in the fields (see below)
  3. Select Create
  4. Repeat from step 2 for any other new leagues

Division fields

League

Select the league from the drop down list.

Unfortunately, it’s not currently pre-selected for you.

Long Name

Enter the long formal name of the division. Don’t abbreviate – this field is used throughout the fixtures page so visitors must be able to know what it’s referring to.

For example:

  • Premier Division
  • Division 4 South East
  • Development Division North
  • etc.

Short Name

Enter a short name for the division. This name must be unique across all divisions in the current league. It can be shortened or abbreviated. It is used for when exporting and importing fixtures, so it’s a good idea to make it understandable to fixture managers.

For example (using the above long name examples):

  • P
  • D4SE
  • DN

Sort order

This field represent the order that divisions are listed on the website within the league.

Enter a number, a low number for top divisions incrementing to higher for the bottom divisions.

Numbers do not need to be consecutive – 10, 20, 30, 40, etc. is as good as 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

League Manager

Select the user who is the Division Representative for this division.

TODO change field name as it’s misleading

Number Promoted

Enter the number of teams that are to be promoted from the division at the end of the season.

Number Relegated

Enter the number of teams that are to be relegated from the division at the end of the season.

Hide tables

Some pseudo-leagues/divisions do not have league tables. Set this to Yes if that’s the case and tables will not be generated.

Sponsor

If the division has a sponsor, add the detail here.

Note: there are icons to allow some limited text formatting. Try to avoid using these as they no longer apply on the new website.

Notes

Add notes for the division.

This is usually for info. such as teams that have dropped out of the league, etc.

Note: there are icons to allow some limited text formatting. Try to avoid using these as they no longer apply on the new website.
